As the pilgrims first gathered to share their bounty and blessings, we hope you will join us in our celebration of giving thanks. We can promise you great food, music, fun, and friendship!

Luncheon — served at 1:00 p.m. What would Thanksgiving be without a generous helping of delicious Turkey and all the trimmings?

The Wizard of Oz

Wednesday — November 28

Departure - 11:00 a.m.

Return - 5:00 p.m.

Our luxury coach will transport us to The Paramount Theatre in beautiful Aurora, Illinois, where we will see a Broadway style stage production of the iconic fairytale “The Wizard of Oz.”

You may have been to Oz before, but never like this. You will be transported over the rainbow in what is sure to be one of the most talked about musicals yet. Join Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and the Wicked Witch in the wonderful world of Oz. You have seen the classic movie at home, now see it live on stage at the beautiful Paramount Theatre.

We will begin with a buffet style lunch. The meal will consist of a garden salad, roasted pork with an apple au jus on the side, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and rolls with coffee, water and soda. For dessert we will enjoy cookies and brownies. Please let us know when purchasing tickets if you are a vegetarian or need a gluten free meal, so we can accommodate your needs.

Tickets at $75 include transportation, show and lunch.

Kenny and Dolly Christmas Tribute

Tuesday - December 11

Departure - 10:00 a.m.

Return - 5:00 p.m.

We will ride on a luxury motor coach to the world famous Starved Rock Lodge in Oglesby, Illinois. After having our delicious hot lunch, we will enjoy the performances of Dave Karl (Kenny Rogers) and Wendy Engler (Dolly Parton) as they perform all of the top songs, mannerisms and humor of the real Kenny and Dolly. This tribute has it all, the best of Kenny, Dolly and of course many of their famous duets. There will be the perfect mix of Christmas music sprinkled in to celebrate the holiday.

The hot lunch buffet includes: split cornish hens, roast beef, figgy pudding along with bread, potatoes, vegetables and salads. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions you may have.

Tickets at $60 for the show, lunch and transportation.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank will have a representative available to assist you with Food Stamp applications and answer questions regarding the application process. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamp Program, was designed to help end hunger and improve nutrition and health.

Please bring the following items to help assist the process (if possible):

·  Identification - Driver’s License, State ID, Birth Certificate

·  Pay Stub, if available

·  Rent receipt

·  Statement/Letter showing money received from social security, SSI, VA, etc.

·  Bank/Checking statements, if available

No appointments necessary. Each appointment may take a minimum of 30 minutes.



Senior Health Insurance Program (S.H.I.P.)

Every Other Wednesday

By Appointment Only 1 – 4 p.m.

S.H.I.P. provides free individual counseling services and is dedicated to educating people with Medicare and their caregivers about insurance options.

S.H.I.P. counselors can answer questions about: Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicare Advantage Plus, Prescription Drug Coverage through Medicare and other sources, long-term care insurance, Medicare claims and appeals and Medicare beneficiary rights and guarantees.

Judy Weimer will be available to answer questions starting on Wednesday June 4th by appointment only. Please call the Senior Center to schedule an appointment at 630-620-2424.



T’ai Chi Ch’uan

Practice balance and concentration with the gentle, flowing movements of classical T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

Taught by Tai Chi Master Susie Huang, this ancient Chinese series of 24 forms or postures can improve balance and strength.

In recent years, Western medicine has also recognized T’ai Chi as a natural way to lower blood pressure, improve coordination, and maintain general good health and mobility.

Put on your sneakers, bring a bottle of water, and join us in the gym for a new experience with ancient roots.



Neo Tai Chi

Every Thursday

Please join Instructor Mark Drysch for a weekly class of this new form of Tai Chi designed with you in mind. Neo Tai Chi is based on the symmetry of the martial arts and the soft, flowing movements of Tai Chi. The 96 movements of the Neo Tai Chi form create a feeling of relaxation and well-being. It is intended to boost the immune system, strengthen the muscles, improve flexibility and balance, and enhance breathing; the movements are all gentle and non-impact. Neo Tai chi is the creation of your instructor Mark Drysch, who has 20 years of experience in the martial arts and Tai Chi.

"Birds of Prey" Presentation

Birds that hunt for mammals, fish or other birds are called “Birds Of Prey”. Representatives from the DuPage County Forest Preserve District will bring live examples of birds of prey that are indigenous to Northeastern Illinois. Hawks, falcons and owls are common birds of prey that call DuPage’s forest preserves home, and while they are all hunters, they do have differences that place them in separate groups.

Joe Cantore, President of the Forest Preserve District will conduct a question and answer session for those in attendance.

Wild life enthusiasts and bird lovers alike will enjoy this lively presentation.

Olivier Wasilewski, from United Healthcare Medicare and Retirement will make this Medicare Insurance presentation.

During the presentation Olivier will talk about a portfolio of Medicare insurance plans available to Medicare Beneficiaries. Your choices include:

  • Original Medicare, which includes hospital stays (Part A) and doctor visits (Part B).
  • Original Medicare with a stand-alone prescription drug plan (Part D) and/or a Medicare supplement insurance plan.
  • Medicare Advantage (Part C), which often includes a prescription drug plan plus extra benefits (Part D) in addition to hospital stays (Part A) and doctor visits (Part B).
