We will ride on a luxury motor coach to the world famous White Fence Farms in Romeoville, Illinois. Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals

Batter Up! Join us for an afternoon of food, fun, bingo and baseball! You are guaranteed to have a great time on Senior Bingo Day at Guaranteed Rate Field where our White Sox square off against the Kansas City Royals. The buffet features: Cajun chicken, fried chicken, hot dogs, barbeque ribs, hamburgers, salads, unlimited beer and wine and soft drinks.

Tickets at $65 include transportation, lunch, bingo and great seats to watch the game.

Cubs vs. Brewers

Wednesday — June 13

Play ball! We will be taking a luxury motorcoach on Wednesday, June 13th to Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Miller Park features North America’s only fan-shaped convertible roof, which can open and close in less than 10 minutes. You are going to have a great time with the rest of the York Township gang cheering for the Cubs who will be battling the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ticket day sales are limited to 4 tickets per person on first day of sale. All participants going to the game should be 55 years or older.

Tickets at $55 each cover transportation and admission. Food and beverage is on your own.

Lunch and snacks are on your own.

Big Band Cruise

Wednesday — June 20

Departure - 8:30 a.m.

Return - 5:30 p.m.

Our destination will be Moline, Illinois where we will board the Celebration Belle, the largest non-gaming excursion vessel on the Mississippi River. This is where you can sit back, while cruising down the Mississippi and reminisce to the songs that bring back all the memories of the Big Band era. The entertainment is one of the Quad Cities favorite bands and they will be performing songs from Glenn Miller, Guy Lombardo, Louie Armstrong and many others! They also take requests! There is a dance floor.

After you depart the dock there will be a full hot 2 entrée lunch buffet. The lunch will consist of baked cranberry glazed boneless breast of chicken, alfredo pasta with vegetables, homemade garlic mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, green beans with sautéed bacon and onions, 2 cold salads, tossed spring salad with dressing, rolls and butter, dessert and coffee and iced tea included with your meal.

Tickets at $80 include cruise, transportation, entertainment and lunch.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank will have a representative available to assist you with Food Stamp applications and answer questions regarding the application process. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamp Program, was designed to help end hunger and improve nutrition and health.

Please bring the following items to help assist the process (if possible):

·  Identification - Driver’s License, State ID, Birth Certificate

·  Pay Stub, if available

·  Rent receipt

·  Statement/Letter showing money received from social security, SSI, VA, etc.

·  Bank/Checking statements, if available

No appointments necessary. Each appointment may take a minimum of 30 minutes.



Senior Health Insurance Program (S.H.I.P.)

Every Other Wednesday

By Appointment Only 1 – 4 p.m.

S.H.I.P. provides free individual counseling services and is dedicated to educating people with Medicare and their caregivers about insurance options.

S.H.I.P. counselors can answer questions about: Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicare Advantage Plus, Prescription Drug Coverage through Medicare and other sources, long-term care insurance, Medicare claims and appeals and Medicare beneficiary rights and guarantees.

Judy Weimer will be available to answer questions starting on Wednesday June 4th by appointment only. Please call the Senior Center to schedule an appointment at 630-620-2424.



T’ai Chi Ch’uan

Practice balance and concentration with the gentle, flowing movements of classical T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

Taught by Tai Chi Master Susie Huang, this ancient Chinese series of 24 forms or postures can improve balance and strength.

In recent years, Western medicine has also recognized T’ai Chi as a natural way to lower blood pressure, improve coordination, and maintain general good health and mobility.

Put on your sneakers, bring a bottle of water, and join us in the gym for a new experience with ancient roots.



Neo Tai Chi

Please join Instructor Mark Drysch for a weekly class of this new form of Tai Chi designed with you in mind. Neo Tai Chi is based on the symmetry of the martial arts and the soft, flowing movements of Tai Chi. The 96 movements of the Neo Tai Chi form create a feeling of relaxation and well-being. It is intended to boost the immune system, strengthen the muscles, improve flexibility and balance, and enhance breathing; the movements are all gentle and non-impact. Neo Tai chi is the creation of your instructor Mark Drysch, who has 20 years of experience in the martial arts and Tai Chi.

It is important that older adults and people with disabilities stay informed, keep appointments, maintain social connections and enjoy independent travel!

The RTA Transit Orientation Presentation offers a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Accessibility features on CTA, Pace, and Metra.
  • Trip planning on the region’s transportation system.
  • Paying fare.
  • An overview of Ventra.
  • Information on RTA’s Reduced Fare and Ride free programs.
